VOTF Officers Election: Call for Nominations

Dear Friends,

In 2012, Voice of the Faithful will celebrate its tenth anniversary. We have made significant progress in those ten years to fulfill our mission and three goals. It is important that we have the leadership to continue our efforts to transform our Church.

In February, 2012, we will elect Voice of the Faithful’s national officers for 2012-13. We invite you to take part in the governance of VOTF by nominating qualified candidates for the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

Any registered VOTF member is eligible to nominate VOTF members for national officer positions. If you are not yet a registered member, you can register on the VOTF website voiceofthefaithful.mystagingwebsite.com by clicking Join on the right-hand side of the home page. Please note that the payment of dues in order to be eligible to vote in the 2012 election does not apply to nominating candidates for election.

All nominations must be completed online and received by midnight EST on December 5, 2011—a firm deadline. Nominations will be acknowledged by email within 2 business days. Please contact Ron DuBois if an acknowledgement is not received in that time.

Anyone who wishes to nominate a candidate (including him/herself) must email two documents by the deadline of December 5, 2011, to nominations@votf.org.
They are:

  1. A 250-500 word statement of interest and willingness to serve for a two-year period from the member being nominated (Why I want to run).

  2. A statement of support for the person being nominated from one VOTF member who is currently serving in a leadership position at the local, regional or national level.

The Nominating Committee (see below) will also actively search for qualified candidates to submit their names in nomination, but the committee will not endorse particular candidates.

The committee will ensure that all nominations are on time, complete, and meet nomination criteria. They will post the slate of candidates by January 3, 2012. VOTF will take steps to provide members with as much information as possible about the candidates and access to them before the election takes place from February 6 to 20, 2012.

All nominating and voting will be done online. Any candidate nominated by a VOTF member who agrees to the nomination and meets the proposed criteria will be placed on the ballot.

Criteria for candidates to be placed on the ballot include:

  1. A member of VOTF for at least 2 years

  2. Commitment to serve a 2-year term

  3. Support of the VOTF statement of Officer duties and responsibilities.

  4. A letter of support from a VOTF member in a leadership position; affiliate, local or national level

  5. A 250-500 word statement of interest (why I want to run) and willingness to serve

Thank you for your interest in and commitment to Voice of the Faithful. Your prayerful and active participation as a member of VOTF is an integral part of the processes that will ensure the continued vitality of the organization and movement.

Sincerely,

Elia Marnik, Chair, Board of Trustees
