Lent Reflections: Mar. 8, 2016

From today’s Gospel: “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up …”

This man was waiting a long time for a chance to be cured. He was waiting for someone to help him into the pool. After all this time why had no one offered to help? There are so many opportunities each day to reach out to others. Are we like the people at the pool who wouldn’t get involved or were just looking out for themselves?

This man was looking for healing in the waters of the pool and the source of healing, the source of love, was standing next to him. A song from the ’80s comes to mind – “Looking for love in all the wrong places …”
