Jesus told the women, “Go and Tell,” and we have been sharing the Good News ever since.
The Continental Deacon Circle invites you to join us on Wednesday, May 3, at 7 p.m. (ET), as our monthly virtual Prayer Service continues. We will celebrate Easter hope and joy with women disciples past and present in prayerful reflection for solidarity and synodality. Seeking St. Phoebe’s intercession, as we rush toward Pentecost and her Feast Day, we will pray and envision Phoebe being with us.
The Continental Deacon Circle’s roots lie with Voice of the Faithful’s Women’s Roles Working Group, which started about three years ago. The group formed in response to Dr. Phyllis Zagano’s books and webinars on the history of women in the diaconate. All were inspired to connect with each other to learn more. At about that time, the voices of Casey Stanton and Ellie Hidalgo emerged, and Discerning Deacons (discerningdeacons.org) was formed. Together, the two groups moved forward in mutual support and collaboration.
The members of the Continental Deacon Circle hail from Helena, Montana; San Diego, Westlake Village, Los Altos, Carmarillo, and Los Angeles, California; Long Beach and Schenectady, New York; Salina, Kansas; Campbell River, Vancouver Island, British Columbia; and Cortez, Colorado.
Please join us as women of the Church with joyful hope to “Go and Tell” the Good News of the Gospel!
We are eager to reveal a newly commissioned image of Deacon Saint Phoebe created by Brother Mickey McGrath.
