  • Admit it, you felt good when you read the words 'chamber music concert'. Isn't it lovely to be reminded about the way music feeds our spirits?

    You should know that Susan Jordan is organizing an afternoon concert on Sunday, Sept 28 at NE Conservatory's Jordan Hall to benefit SNAP. Her committee needs financial support to underwrite expenses. If you can help, visit SNAP's website for further details: www.survivorsnetwork.org.

  • The Concerned Catholics of Bridgewater [CCOB] will hold an all night vigil beginning at 5:00 pm on April 12 at the Catholic Center on the Bridgewater State College campus. The purpose of the vigil will be to remember and honor all victim/survivors of clergy abuse. 'Will you but watch one hour with me?' For more information, call 508-531-1346.

  • For MA region: Winchester Area VOTF is sponsoring a presentation. On Sunday April 13 at 7 pm, clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst Dr. Mary Gail Frawley O'Dea, Ph.D. will speak at St. Eulalia's Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester, MA. Dr. O'Dea will speak on "Analysis of a Scandal: Psychosocial Roots of the Sexual Abuse Scandal."

  • Worcester Diocese VOTF announces a program to be held on April 23, 2003 at 7 pm in the Rehm Library, Smith Hall at Holy Cross College. The discussion will be presented by Victim/Survivor Groups on their work with survivors and how best to be helpful to the survivor population. Groups include The Linkup, SurvivorsFirst, SNAP and the Worcester Diocese Office of Healing and Prevention.

  • On APRIL 10, 2003 - 1:00 p.m., the Judiciary Committee of the Massachusetts Legislature held a hearing on House Bill No. 1895, which would eliminate all time limits on criminal prosecutions for rape and other sex crimes. You can support this bill by writing (not by e-mail) or telephoning the two Chairmen of the Judiciary Committee:

  • The 2003 CORPUS NATIONAL CONFERENCE, "Sexual and Sacramental Healing: Redefining the Future," will be held in Dallas, TX, June 27, 28 and 29, 2003. For a complete list of speakers, workshops and registration information, go to the CORPUS web site www.corpus.org and click on "conferences".

  • VOTF National congratulates VOTF Maine! The affiliate was awarded the 2003 "Make a Difference" award by the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault for its support for victims and survivors of sexual assault and its work in raising awareness of sexual abuse in Maine. The agencies who make up the Coalition provide crisis assistance to victims of sexual assault and to their families and friends. They also provide information and referrals, school-based education, professional training and consultation.

    This award notification letter was received by each of the following Maine Voice of the Faithful members: Virginia and Frank Doherty, Michael Doherty, Courtney Doherty Oland, Paul Kendrick, and Michael Sweatt.

  • Well-known writer Paul Wilkes is directing The Boston Pastoral Summit, October 6-8, 2003, in Boston, MA. This summit will feature a workshop by Jim Post and Voice members on the organization and where it is going; another workshop on "Broken Pastors/Broken Congregations" that will feature Father Walter Cuenin and a Protestant counterpart, each talking about what churches can do to recover from the brokenness of clergy sexual abuse (and other abuse by clergy); a morning gathering, by interest group, that will be devoted to an open forum on VOTF.   • Father Bill Clark, SJ, Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the College of the Holy Cross, MA, will speak at a meeting of the Saint Ignatius Affiliate, VOTF on Sunday, April 27, at 6:45 PM. The meeting will be held in the Lannon Chapel at Saint Ignatius Church, 21 Commonwealth Avenue, Chestnut Hill, MA. Fr. Clark's topic will be "Authority in the Catholic Church: Where does it Come From? Who Shares It?" A Question and Answer period will follow, and the program will end at 8:30 PM.

  • Boston College, "Church in the 21st Century" Initiative and its Committee at the Graduate School of Social Work is sponsoring a lecture by Dr. Mary Fail Frawley-O'Dea on "Analysis of a Scandal: Psychosocial Roots of the Sexual Abuse Scandal," 7:30 to 9:00p.m., Gasson Hall 100, Monday, April 14, 2003.
