Election News

A nominating committee was formed after the October 16, 2003 Council meeting. National representation was an important feature of the committee and the following people volunteered:

  • Eileen Knoff (WA)
  • Kristine Ward (OH)
  • Anne Wilson (NY)
  • Frank McConville (MA)
  • Louise Aleo (MA)
  • Svea Fraser (MA), chairperson

Kris Ward recused herself when she accepted the nomination for vice president. She was replaced by Jim Walsh (MA).

Starting on October 30, 2003, nominations for President, Vice President, Secretary/Clerk and Treasurer for the year 2004 were mailed in (by those without computer access) and logged in by registered members.

Each nominee was contacted and asked if they wanted to be considered as a candidate for office . Those who chose to run were asked to submit background bio's or resumes, in addition to answering questions about their involvement in VOTF, their contributions in the office they seek and their hopes for VOTF. They were invited to write responses to the following questions and a summary statement of their reasons for running.

  1. What has been your involvement with VOTF to date?

  2. How will you contribute to VOTF’s pursuit of its mission and three goals in the office you seek?

  3. What are your hopes for VOTF, the movement, in the next year and in the future?

  4. An opportunity to provide a summary statement.
