Rose Walsh
Candidate for Secretary

Interview Questions for Candidates
November 2004

1. What has been your involvement in VOTF to date? e.g., Are you a member of an affiliate? What role have you played? Give examples of work done with VOTF.
I have been a member of Voice since April 2002. I was involved with the fist convention, later volunteering in the national office. In March 2003 the Executive Director solicited my administrative services based on my resume as a professional secretary. There was no guideline for this position so I developed my job to its current status which is effectively office manager. I have worked on many committees and participated in most of the activities related to VOTF. I am an affiliate member of St. Anselm.

2. How will you contribute to VOTF's pursuit of its mission and its three goals in the office you seek? e.g. What experience have you had that would help in this position? In your work, education, hobbies or otherwise? Do you currently, or have you recently, held a leadership position in any other organization?

I will continue to preach the three goals of Voice and support this important organization because I believe this is the only avenue available to the laity. My past experience includes serving on numerous boards and my work experience has developed the ability to anticipate needs and follow through accordingly.

3. What are your hopes for VOTF, the movement, in the next year and in the future? e.g., What do you think are the challenges we face? What would you define as "success" for VOTF?

My hope is that the Vatican will listen to the laity for without acceptance from the Pope, Voice will continue its uphill climb. I feel Voice has already succeeded in creating a more involved, better educated Catholic since its birth, but we still have a long road ahead of us.

4. Are you prepared to keep any of your hopes and desires for the future of the Church that are not related to our three goals out of public/formal discussions of VOTF?

Absolutely. If one does not agree and support the three goals of VOTF, they should not join this organization.

5. What inspired you to join VOTF?

The abuse of children and lack of honesty with the laity is beyond my comprehension. As laity, as parents, as practicing Catholics we have a responsibility to save our Church.

6. What work, ministries, volunteer activities have you participated in for the Church?

I am a member of St. Anselm which is in 24-hour vigil. I sleep in the Church every week, filling other 3 to 4-hour slots during the day when available, volunteer my services administrative services and attend our weekly meetings at the Church. Before Voice and St. Anselm, I served on a board, fundraising to benefit our previous church in Homewood, IL.

Rose Walsh

I have been a member of Voice since April 2002, involved with the fist convention and later volunteering in the national office. In March 2003 the Executive Director solicited my assistance based on my professional secretarial background of 30+ years. There was no guideline for this position so I developed this job to its current status which is effectively office manager. I had this position for one and one-half years. I would like to participate in the next level of VOTF as secretary.

As a mother of eight and grandmother of eight, the abuse of children by priests was beyond my comprehension, thus my commitment to Voice. Supporting the three goals is my starting point, as well as my continued participation in all phases of Voice.

Regarding VOTF’s future, it is my hope that the Vatican will listen to the laity, for without acceptance from the Pope; Voice will continue its uphill climb. The actions by the archdiocese have strengthened my desire to make a better Church through my participation in Voice.

My parish (St. Anselm) is in 24-hour vigil and my husband and I sleep in the Church once a week, and I volunteer my administrative services as needed.
