Interview Questions and Statement
November 2004

1. What has been your involvement in VOTF to date? e.g., Are you a member of an affiliate? What role have you played? Give examples of work done with VOTF.

I helped form my local affiliate in April of 2002 remained an active member until its consolidation with Greater Philadelphia affiliate in September 2004. At that time I became Council Rep for GPVOTF.
In August of 2002 I joined the Structural Change Working Group. I worked on the initial stages of the Primer. With Mary Freeman I helped design, execute, and analyze a survey of Parish Pastoral Councils which we have put into a narrated power point presentation.

In May of 2004 I was elected to the Steering Committee of the Representative Council. I have set up a yahoo listserve for discussing and voting on council resolutions. I have also helped other VOTF groups set up their own listserve. I have served as SC rep on the site selection committee for the 2005 convention.

2. How will you contribute to VOTF's pursuit of its mission and its three goals in the office you seek? e.g. What experience have you had that would help in this position? In your work, education, hobbies or otherwise? Do you currently, or have you recently, held a leadership position in any other organization?

First my experience within the organization shows both my commitment to the mission and goals of VOTF. I am a trained theologian and have taught at Villanova University since 1977. I have served as an elected member of the College Theology society’s board of directors for six years and as a non-elected member for many years. I was director of Women’s Studies at Villanova for four years and for the past year and one half I have served as acting director of the Theology Institute. I am also the coordinator of the Institute. I am retiring from Villanova University in order to spend more time in my parish and VOTF.

3. What are your hopes for VOTF, the movement, in the next year and in the future? e.g., What do you think are the challenges we face? What would you define as "success" for VOTF?

My hope for VOTF is to expand the membership especially active membership. I hope that it will become a truly national organization so that we have truly a chance of hearing the “voice” of the laity. I hope that VOTF will remain true to its original commitment of being an organization that works through collaboration not a hierarchical structure.

I hope that we will never forget our commitment to the survivors of abuse within the Church. I hope that we will work collaboratively with the bishops to assist them in becoming servants of all the members.

4. Are you prepared to keep any of your hopes and desires for the future of the Church that are not related to our three goals out of public/formal discussions of VOTF?

5. What inspired you to join VOTF?

My love and concern for all members of the Church inspired me to join VOTF. Where even only one is hurting we all are hurting.

6. What work, ministries, volunteer activities have you participated in for the Church?

I have been a lector in my parish since 1977, served on the PPC, the adult faith formation team, and served in various other capacities.
