Anonymous Question: I've been involved in VOTF since July 2002. I was a member of the initial board of VOTF-BPT. I'd like to know more about the American Catholic Council with a view to possibly contibuting my talents in some way.

 

Answer:

Oh my, I am so very glad you asked. When Dan and I took office, he was visionary enough to recognize that we needed a gathering of Catholics who could speak up about their Church and move from there to solutions.

We have been working on this movement for nearly two years now and my co-chair is John Hushon, a VOTF trustee. We gathered reform groups together and asked if there was potential for everyone parking their organizations' missions at the door and engaging in a search for common ground. It was essentially like herding cats but it happened!

We will be holding local assemblies across the United States throughout the year and into March of next year culminating in a national assembly Pentecost weekend, 2011 where we expect 5,000 people!
