Memorial of Saint John of the Cross, Priest and Doctor of the Church,
Wednesday of the Third Week of Advent, Dec. 14, 2016
In Isaiah 45:18, we read:
"For thus says the Lord,
the creator of the heavens,
who is God,
The designer and maker of the earth
who established it,
not as an empty waste did God create it,
but designing it to be lived in:
I am the LORD, and there is no other."
This is a good time to remember Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment Laudato Si. There is so much waste at this time of year. How much of this can I avoid creating, share my extra with others, or take the time to dispose of properly? As stewards of the earth we are responsible for protecting what God has given us.
