Protecting Our Children:
Is offering: Talking About Touching(TAT) Training
Protecting Our Children Working Group is ready to collaborate with the
RCAB toward our common goal of creating the safest possible environment
for our children in Boston Archdiocese parishes. Toward that goal, we
are offering this training program to educate ourselves and assist the
RCAB in guarding against child abuse, removing abusers, and educating
parents and their children in the best methods to ensure safety the safety
of our children.
VOTF will take a leadership role in providing information and support
to parishes and become knowledgeable in the workings of the safety program
mandated by the archdiocese.

TAT creates a safe environment for children teaching them personal safety
skills to protect them from abusive or dangerous situations**

Talking about Touching is the RCAB mandated safety program (K-4) already
implemented in parochial schools and to be implemented in parish CCD
programs by fall ’04.
Training: Participants receive two 4 hr sessions of hands-on experience
and practice with the curricula, and learn to effectively teach safety
skills to students, preschool through grade 4. Participants will also
learn about the role of the mandated reporter, how to identify indicators
of
abuse and how to handle disclosures. Trainees will also learn how to
facilitate an effective parent education meeting using the video "What Do I Say
Now?" Upon completion of training, participants are certified to teach
TAT to children in the classroom and host a parent night.
