Candidates for Secretary:
Nick Mazza
Our church needs reform. This is the reason I joined Voice of the Faithful.
I have been a part of our church my entire 60 years. As a youth, seminarian, single adult involved in Charismatic Renewal, married adult active in our parish, employee for Catholic university, archdiocesan seminary and Doctor of Education. In all of these experiences, I have witnessed a church that is stuck in a time warp and even going backwards.
I am moderator of Voices’ Universal Church Reform platform and member of core leadership. My interests are changing the process for Bishop’s Selection, addressing mandatory celibacy and working actively for the fair treatment of women in the church. By voting for me, you will have life experience, education and vision for the future.

Voters, I risk sounding like a red/white/blue war poster:
We want you!
And I want what you want as generous Catholics
+You want an improving voice in our Church
And I want what you want as thoughtful gifted Catholics
+You want children protected and priests of integrity honored
And I want what you want as strong active Catholics
+You want to expand our vision into community
We have a prayerful action plan. We need to talk. Call me.

Organizations struggle to adapt. Complaisant organizations fail while organizations that are tested by crisis, and embrace the opportunities that crises offer, become stronger and succeed.
The current economic down-turn is a case in point. It challenged VOTF to:
-
Develop realistic liquidity guidelines that provide a “heads-up” for any future cash short-falls,
-
Rethink our business plan and approach to planning and goal setting, and
-
Embrace the opportunity for VOTF leadership: officers, executive director and board of trustees, to join in a collaborative effort to assure VOTF’s financial stability.
I savor the part I played in helping VOTF embrace these opportunities. I look forward to your continued support, and I promise to remain vigilant, and focused on the “gold ring” that is VOTF goals.
