Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate Bulletins

Our Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates are sending bulletins this week:

Candidates for President

Dan Bartley:

Dear friends,
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as VOTF President. In 2008, I promised to focus on four ways to help us accomplish our mission and goals: empowerment, collaboration, partnership and growth.

As a result of your input and the active collaboration of numerous VOTF leaders we set in motion the “Voices in Action” campaign. I am convinced that Voices in Action will help transform our Church through local, regional, and national action.

With your help and support we have accomplished much during these past two years, yet there is still much that remains to be done. It would be my honor and privilege to serve as your president and continue the work that is well under way.

Gaile Pohlhaus:

VOTF is in a position to make significant changes in how the hierarchy understands the Church:

  1. By continuing to support survivors of clerical sexual abuse by action and working for justice we model the behavior of a Christian attitude.
  2. By continuing to support priests of integrity we show the kind of   ministry we need in the present day.
  3. By shaping structural change within the Catholic Church through our strategic action plan we return to the vision of the original Christians and not the vision which grew out of the Roman Empire.

All this can be accomplished when we provide a prayerful voice, attentive to the Spirit, through which the Faithful can actively participate in the governance and guidance of the Catholic Church.

Janet Hauter:

WHY I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT VOICE OF THE FAITHFUL
VOTF has incredible untapped potential!  This revelation came from the survey officers conducted early in our tenure.  Our members said boldly that:

  • they want a voice;
  • they want their talents to be utilized and
  • they want more consistent, actionable progress toward changing our Church.

Dan and I took that information seriously and developed plans, sought out leadership and supported those who stepped forward in an empowerment model -- free to use their God-given insights, creativity and innovation in developing solutions.  We’ve heard the problems far too long; to stay mired in them is disempowering and debilitating.

We have the collective abilities and vision to succeed but we need YOU to make it happen!
